Fuentes de Vida Community Water Project

The residents of Domingo Maiz worry every day about where their water comes from and whether or not it is safe to drink and use. Fuentes de Vida seeks to create a community water treatment plant and provide clean drinking water for the residents of Domingo Maiz, transforming the lives and living conditions of over 150 families in need. Fuentes de Vida is building a constructed wetland, a natural system that treats the community's sewage and insures that local aquifers are clean for drinking.

Project Hope

Project HOPE has been working in the Dominican Republic since 1996, when we first began collaborating with the local organization, the Dominican Association of the Order of Malta (ADOM), to improve the health of women and children. Project HOPE – with the support of ADOM - opened a women’s and children’s health clinic in the Herrera neighborhood of Santo Domingo in 2002 and in the more rural Monte Plata in 2003. While both clinics are now self-reliant, Project HOPE continues to provide technical oversight in order to optimize efficiency. The clinics have provided over two million medical services to more than 100,000 women and children to date.
